Home Ground runs the Island’s deer processing facility and its landowner–hunter access program, working with Tick Free MV and MassWildlife to bring the deer herd down and get venison to Island families. We’re hiring Islanders who want to be part of it.

Processor (hiring now)
Butcher and package donated and hunter-paid deer at our facility on the Agricultural Society grounds in West Tisbury, October through mid-February.
$125 per deer, plus paid training and sanitation time
Flexible hours; busiest during shotgun season (late November to mid-December)
Butchering experience a plus; we’ll train the right people
Must be 18 or older
Office Administrator (starting 2027)
Keep the access program running: hunter and landowner records, form follow-ups, scheduling and communications.
Pay to be set; about 25–30 hours a week in season, 12–15 off season
Organized, discreet, comfortable with Google Workspace
Facility Manager (starting 2027)
Run day-to-day operations at the processing facility: crew scheduling, food safety records, intake and cold storage.
Pay to be set; seasonal, with longer hours during peak weeks
Food processing or kitchen management experience preferred
Field Coordinator (future role)
Be Home Ground’s eyes in the field: help hunters and landowners get set up, and keep enrolled land in good order.
Orientation for new hunters and walk-throughs with landowners
Help with stand and camera placement under each landowner’s rules
Spot-check stands for obvious safety problems and correct placement
Confirm stands and cameras come down on time, at season’s end and after a pause, withdrawal or change in a landowner’s preferences
Check in on enrolled properties and report anything that needs attention
This role doesn’t hunt on the job.

Deep knowledge of Island hunting and the outdoors; tree stand experience a plus
